Gary Fong's path to a professional photography career was highly unexpected. With a degree in Pharmacology, Gary worked in hospitals, labs, emergency rooms and pathology departments anticipating a career as a physician. All of that changed when he decided- for richer or poorer, to begin a career in wedding photography simply because, "I wanted to be around happier people".
Breaking the news to first generation asian parents of an only child was not easy. They presented a unique challenge - he had to show in one year that he could earn more than a doctor could, or go to medical school.
So, starting with $254 and one camera in a small bedroom of his parent's apartment, he developed an album presentation style he called, "The Storybook" and it became a huge success. Within one year he was lecturing to professional photography associations on his first 29 city lecture tour. "Here Comes The Guide", the leading published book on wedding planning had this to say about Gary, "Every once in a while someone comes along to revolutionize an art form; for wedding photography, that someone Is Gary Fong"
Gary went on to become an internationally-renowned photographer who photographed assignments and lectured around the globe,
His celebrity clientele built quickly, photographing the cover for President Ronald Reagan's "Memoirs" book, the late President's official autobiography. Spending up to 1/3 of a typical year in Europe, Gary is fluent in Spanish and French.
His photographed work has been profiled in international publications and books, his work has appeared on numerous magazine covers and national ad campaigns, and was recently featured in the video documentary "Photovision".
In 1998, he was featured as one of the world's ten top photographers in "
Weddings 2000", a televised satellite broadcast at over 90 United Artists theaters, and attended by more than 10,000 photographers throughout the United States. "Weddings 2000" was the largest educational event in the history of professional photography.

Rangefinder Magazine, (the leading trade publication for Professional Photographers) called Gary, "A source of inspiration for an entire generation of photographers".

One of the first professional photographers to convert to 100% digital, Gary has a history of being a leader in computer imaging, software and design. Creator of the industry-standard, "Montage" software, Montage became the most successful software package ever created for professional photographers. And in 2001, he founded Pictage, Inc's Digital Professional Lab, which quickly grew to the country's largest e-commerce/Pro Digital Lab. In 2003, he retired from wedding photography to focus on his energies as an inventor, Gary launched a number of products for the photographic trade. BullZeye™ is a color correction software for digital images. The Kleper Digital Report calls BullZeye™ "an amazing digital image color correction application". In 2004, Gary invented and patented the
"Gary Fong LightsphereII™ which quickly became an unprecedented runaway international success.

In 2005, Gary started, "Gary Fong Marine Charters, Inc." with his yacht, the HMS Kelowna.
In 2006, Gary purchased the renowned horse farm,
"The Twin Creek Ranch".

On August, 28, 2007, Gary married photographer Melissa Carl at his ranch in British Columbia. They migrate between his eleven homes in Seattle, WA; Marina Del Rey, CA and Kelowna, B.C.
